Recently I've been thinking about what the 'thing' is just now, and I have come to the conclusion that futurism may be the answer. From performance art, to music and fashion, everyone is all about the future. This was obviously a big trend in the 1970's but technology was quite as ready as it is now. I have attached some interesting visuals supporting this theory, and maybe one day we will all look like this and be wearing these clothes.
