The Rut

last week i again, had the pleasure of working with photographer Grant Adam (Adam-x Photography) on an interesting editorial shoot. Using my collection, 'Dead on the Sidewalk' I wanted to portray images of power inspired by the rutting period of some male animals such as deer where they battle over females. Models are myself and my brother AJ Johnstone.

I have finally got round to blogging the look book images of my 'mini' Resort collection 'Dead on the Sidewalk'. Inspired by films based on Frank Miller comics such as 'Sin City', 'The Spirit' and '300', I drew influence from the colours, shapes and religious undertones. Some of the garments are now available to buy online, click on the image below to visit the E-Store

What About Me?

WHAT ABOUT ME

Last week I decided to shoot my university work and a few garments part of my 'Dead on the Sidewalk' collection featuring jewellery by Nick Von K.
With photographer Sam Copeland and model Fiona Lamont, we were bound to get some beautiful shots as I hope you agree. The first garment was the first dress I ever made, a cocktail dress inspired by the 1950's. The shoes I am using are my own custom designed 'hoof' shoes. The second and third garments are both from my resort 2011 collection 'Dead on the Sidewalk' featuring jewellery by New Zealand designer, Nick Von K. The fourth gown is my latest piece, 'Americanna', inspired by America in the 17th/18th century and the mix of fabrics. And the fifth garment, which I completed a year ago was inspired by Scottish designer Bill Gibb. The Textile design was by designer Kate Bell.

Shoes!

Ive always felt shoes are the perfect was to wear something a bit more crazy or contivertial without looking too over the top. Im currently in the process of customizing shoes for my fashion show in a few weeks to come and there are so many possibilities. The first photo are my customized Adidas trainers with a spiked mohican. Then my friend and future french lawyer Debbie wears shoes designed by London College of Fashion for New Look.

Americana

I was lucky enough to have my Americana garment chosen for the catwalk last week. The project was part of uni, to design and make a skirt and tope inspired by 17th/18th century america using traditional prints and tartans.

Photo shoot to follow soon
